Emma Keegan is an artist from and currently residing in Ballymahon, Co. Longford.
She graduated in 2013 with a B.A (Honours) in Fine Art Painting from the Limerick School of Art and Design. She has exhibited extensively in Limerick where she lived for five years, as well as featuring in groups exhibitions in Longford and Dublin. Emma also works on many private commissions particularly in portraiture and contemporary paintings.
Although a graduate in ‘Painting’, performance, photography and film play a fundamental role in her work. Emma creates and plays the characters in her work, eliminating the confines between artist and subject. The work shows us how cinema and its visual and sensational effects can be harnessed through more unconventional mediums such as painting and photography. The arrangement of scenes and composition of shots aim to create these effects in her work.
