There is an Indian proverb that says “ that everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time but, unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.

Connections – a coffee table book of photos of positive mental health moments captured in time – has provided Longford Secondary School TY students the opportunity to reflect on this proverb and interpret the Five Ways Of Wellbeing through the power of the camera lens.

The theme Five Ways to Wellbeing- promoted by Mental Health Ireland – illustrates the many creative ways in which people on an every day basis can uplift their mental wellbeing i.e.

  • Connect: Build connections with people around you.
  • Be active: Boost your energy and mood by doing something active.
  • Take notice: Be curious about the world and enjoy the moment.
  • Keep learning: Learn something new to enhance your confidence and have fun.
  • Give: Do something nice for someone.

The photographers have savored the moment and shown us creative awareness of their environment and mindfulness as they took their special unique photos. We congratulate and thank all that participated , the students, their teachers, their family members and most important of all Shelley Corcoran who has for many years encourage young people to learn how to express them selves in a very mindful and thoughtful way. They are all to be saluted!
