www.visuallongford.ie is a dedicated visual art website established by Longford County Council Arts Office for three specific reasons:
- to provide an opportunity for the serious visual artists in Longford to display their talents, to promote their work and thereby provide a commercial support to their efforts
- to create the opportunity for the people of Longford and elsewhere to see the level of activity in the visual arts in the county and to provide an understanding of the quality of the work being created
- to provide a forum for Longford artists to share their work and to communicate with each other thereby contributing to the development of a greater sense of creative community around the visual arts.
We intend to continue to grow the site, to add more artists and more work on a weekly basis. We are also committed to developing the interactive side of the site to ensure that it becomes an active element in the evolution of a larger, stronger visual arts sector within the community in Longford.
Through the active development and use of www.visuallongford.ie and the sister sites,
www.virtualwriter.ie www.midlandcollegeofphotography.ie and the planned www.longfordmusic.ie the County Arts Office is using multi media and internet technologies as innovative tools in the development of the arts and culture in County Longford.
