Kevin Flood
With his interest and passion in painting first awakened as a child, Kevin’s formal training was received at Dun Laoghaire School of Art and afterwards, the National College of Art and Design.
Kevin’s work has been featured in public collections and in Galleries around Ireland, including the Oriel in Dublin and currently, Treasures Irish Art, Athlone. Kevin also has a studio at home, which has proven very popular.
As well as working on his own art and teaching, Kevin has also written articles for Leisure Painter Magazine, a task which he finds ‘very rewarding’. “I have a very good relationship with the magazine and really enjoy writing for them,” he says.
The local artist has also released an instructional DVD, which has proven very useful, particularly for his students.
In the future, Kevin hopes to continue the DVD series and go back to writing for the magazine. Kevin is also carrying out work on his gallery at home, and for the first time in a long time, he is getting the chance to work on large paintings.
For now, he is working on his own art and passing on his vast knowledge and experience, with adult classes in Kinnegad. Open to people with a bit of experience in painting, Kevin explains that participants will be “guided right through from the beginning to the complete work”.
