Eurochild 2012 was launched at the Backstage Theatre on the 6th November 2012 at 7pm.
The night kicked off with Victoria D’Oliveira reading her poem, which is featured in Braille in the Eurochild 2012 Anthology. Victoria, originally from Brazil, lives in County Roscommon and won the World Vision Award in the under 18 category across America and Europe for her essay “What Braille means to me”.
Her poetry reading was followed by readings by more than 90 children, representing Westmeath, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim and Longford, whose poems are also featured in the Eurochild 2012 Anthology.
The event was funded by Poetry Ireland, CBI and Longford County Council and proved to be a great success.
